Stable Horizons
- Aerial Photography |

Giving
you a “different perspective of your property” |
|
Aerial photography is one of the most
powerful marketing tools available and is applicable to a
wide variety of businesses. A mounted and framed aerial image
displayed in the lobby or conference room always makes an
interesting focal point for the public, clients and business
associates. |
|
We work with each of our clients to plan
a custom aerial photo flight to meet their personal and business
needs. With our wide selection of professional Canon lens
and the ability of the airplane or helicopter to change altitude
and vary the distance to the target site, we can get extremely
close to a structure to show incredible detail or back off
to give a wide angle image to show surrounding property. |
| |
We use the latest digital hi-resolution
professional Canon 17 megapixel camera combined with the highest
quality vibration reduction Canon lens available. Additionally,
all aerial images are taken with the camera connected to an
external gyro-stabilized mount for clear crisp images that
exceed the quality of film. |
| |
Digital images are edited in-house on
Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Lightroom. We offer our aerial
image files in several formats to meet your media needs. The
image files can be delivered via CD/DVD, electronic transfer
or email. |
| |
| Images can be printed at our facility up to 24”x36”
and custom framing services are available. |

AIRPLANE
OR HELICOPTER??? - We use both |
Our preference is to use the airplane–
it is cheaper and faster. An airplane can operate over populated
areas at 1000 feet above the ground. With the professional
lens we have and external gyro-stabilization, we can produce
excellent quality images. However, an airplane is not as maneuverable
as a helicopter and can not operate in small, congested areas.
|
| |
Helicopters can operate at 500 feet above
the ground in populated areas. We would use a helicopter for
photo shoots over large cities and restrictive air spaces
near large, high traffic airports. |
| |
At Stable Horizons, we always have a
dedicated pilot flying the airplane or helicopter while the
aerial photographer takes pictures – the photographer
only takes photos; he does not fly the plane. |

TYPES
OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY |
Oblique
– This is a setup where the aerial photo is taken from
the side of the aircraft looking down at approximately 45
degrees. |
|
| |
Vertical
– This is a setup where the aerial photo is taken straight
down from a camera port located in the bottom of the aircraft.
A “Near-Vertical” (as shown below) is where the
aerial photo is taken out of the side of the aircraft when
the aircraft is making a steep, tight turn and the wing is
perpendicular to the ground. |
|
| |
CONDITIONS
THAT ADVERSELY AFFECT AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: |
Normally, we can schedule an aerial photo
flight within a couple of days of the initial contact with
the customer. HOWEVER, there are a couple of things that are
out of our control that can adversely affect the quality of
the images. They are: Clouds, Haze and Wind.
|
| |
Clouds
affect the aperture and shutter speed. If the target photo
site is completely shaded by clouds, this condition tends
to produce an image that is dull, not as colorful, and does
not have a crisp appearance. If we are photographing property
with a large acreage on a mostly cloudy day, there is a tendency
to have both sunny spots and shaded spots on the image making
it very contrasty. We can make adjustments and enhancements
in Photoshop, but our preference is to reschedule for a sunny
day. |
| |
Haze
is small particles of dust or smog in the air. When shooting
at a close distance or at more of a downward angle from the
aircraft, our photographic equipment can successfully shoot
through the haze with excellent results at lower altitudes.
When you start shooting more horizontally, the haze becomes
denser and has drastic results on the sharpness and clarity
of the image. Our preference would be to reschedule the flight
for a clearer day. |
| |
Wind
becomes a problem over 25 knots. Our camera mount with the
external gyro weighs 12 pounds and is hand-held. Light to
moderate turbulences can cause a safety issue when the wind
reaches excessive speeds. |

RESIDENTIAL
PROPERTY |
We have a number of real estate owners and brokers who feature
our aerial images to market and showcase their property. An
aerial image can not only show the featured property, but
the surrounding landscape, pool and out buildings on the property.
Additionally, a wide angle aerial image can show proximity
to schools, parks, shopping centers, and access roads. An
aerial image can show much more than the typical “curb-side”
frontal photo of a listed property.
A framed and mounted aerial image makes an
outstanding gift for the buyer or seller. Our prints have
a life of over 75 years and make a great heirloom for future
generations.

COMMERCIAL
PROPERTY |
Many of our Commercial Real Estate Professionals use aerial
images for property evaluations, appraisals, land development,
and advertising. We realize that each of our customers have
different needs for commercial aerial images. We work with
each customer to maximize the aerial photo shoot to get the
images they need. We can include close-up details that show
specific items needing special focus to wide angle views showing
traffic flows and surrounding access roads, parking facilities,
and public transportation.

CONSTRUCTION
PROGRESS |
What better way to present the construction project than to
be above it where the entire site can be seen. Monthly aerial
images are indispensable in presentations and tracking the
construction history of a project – from the initial
site survey to building completion. These aerial images can
project your professionalism and show a management style that
is truly in control of the project. Aerial images are effective
in identifying potential delays and conflicts between contractors
and document the site for possible disputes.
We capture multiple images of the site to
show everything from “close-up” detail to wide
angle images showing the entire construction site. Enhancements,
such as Dates and Company logo, can be added to the aerial
images.
The monthly aerial images can be delivered
in either prints or data files via email, FTP (electronic
transfer) or Federal Express.
Disciplines that benefit from monthly aerial construction
progress images:

Owners, Developers, Realtors, Project Managers, Lending Institutions,
Partners, New Tenants, Marketing, Tax Personnel, Insurance Personnel,
Senior Level Management, and the Investment Property Team.

PANORAMAS |
Panoramas are a horizontal series of
several aerial or ground images “stitched together”
in Photoshop to show a wide angle sweep of a property, events
or landscape – it is truly dynamic. Panoramas can be
2 feet tall by several feet wide.
